Read about the highlights of our work in 2020/2021
  1. We fully spent our grants budget (£2.21m) via 473 grant assessments.
  2. We made 277 grants directly to individual applicants, totalling £324,198.
  3. We made 124 grants to organisations, projects and schools to fund work with the individuals we exist to serve totalling £1,884,312.
  4. We completed 130 monitoring reports from organisations and schools.
  5. Phase 1 Covid-19 response: Lambeth Community Response Fund (LCRF) – In March/April 2020, in response to the pandemic, we took urgent steps to re-target our grants programmes and launched the LCRF.  Using our local networks, this resulted in Walcot distributing an additional £330,000 from other sources. Between late April and early September 2020, we awarded 62 Covid-19 grants totalling £872,487 (46 via LCRF and 16 to schools).  More analysis can be found on our website.
  6. Phase 2 Covid-19 response: BounceBack – We researched, developed and launched a new two-year £2m initiative that will help low-income Lambeth residents under 30 find paid work.  We aim for 10-15 organisations to take part and will involve a variety of co-ordinated employment interventions and Job Transition grants for individuals who successfully find work.  Programme delivery will start 1 October 2021.
  7. Black Thrive Employment Programme – We formed a partnership with the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity and Black Thrive to administer a community-led £300K grant programme.  The aim is to fund local groups in piloting fresh approaches in improving employment prospects of black people with long-term health conditions who live in Lambeth.  In the first funding round (Nov 2020), 8 new projects totalling £122K were approved.  Further projects will be awarded in 2021/22.
  8. Capacity Building Partnership with Battersea Power Station Foundation – Following on from the three-year partnership to support the ‘Local Roots’ capacity building initiative, we have agreed to extend this a further year focusing on CLEN’s bespoke capacity building service and continuing to offer peer support groups and training to Lambeth organisations.
