Walcot Foundation Covid-19 Update

1/6/2020

Over the last six weeks, via the Lambeth Community Response Fund, we have awarded 30 grants totalling £437,990 to projects which are supporting low-income Lambeth residents during the current C19 crisis.  We anticipate making grants totalling £580,000 by the end of June.

For projects operating from September 2020, we shall be prioritising applications which:
  1. Directly support the academic achievement of pupils, particularly projects that will help close the attainment gap between pupil premium pupils and their peers
  2. Address student (re)engagement with school, particularly transition years and for students in danger of exclusion
  3. Respond to the mental health needs of children, young people and their parents/carers
  4. Target getting young people (under 30) into employment from unemployment
  5. Improve access by our target group (low-income Lambeth households) to Advice Services, particularly in the fields of debt, housing and employment

Because of our wish to be able to respond flexibly, we will be awarding only one-year grants for the time being. We hope to return to multi-year grants and our wider Governor Priorities from January 2021.  We will review the situation in the autumn. Please visit our news pages for the latest information.

School Grant Applications
We are now accepting applications from schools for projects in the 2020/21 academic year.  If there is something you would like us to consider, please email a very short description of the project idea (250 words max) to grants@walcotfoundation.org.uk by midday 9 June.

Please note this is not required if you have already been issued recently with an application form.
If it fits within the priorities above, we will then email a grant application form for you to complete by 24 June.

Organisation Grant Applications
We will consider grant applications that fit our priorities above from charities and social enterprises via the London Community Response website once it reopens for ‘Delivering Differently’/’Wave 3’ grants.  This should reopen from week commencing 15 June 2020.  We will have more information on this (including timings for decisions) when this round reopens.  If you have any questions on this in the meantime, please email grants@walcotfoundation.org.uk.
