Student Advance Programme
We devised the Walcot Student Advance Programme to provide a greater level of support to our grantees studying at university. It is provided via our grant to Power2.
The idea arose from research we commissioned in our 350th anniversary year. It was clear that many of our students from low-income settings had little or no access to the range of informal and aspirational support young people from better off homes have available to them.
The aim is simple: to help our Walcot Bursary grantees to remain in further/higher education, to get the most out of it, and to make the best possible transition from study to employment.
The Student Advance Programme offers career coaching, mentoring and help in accessing the full range of support and opportunities within their educational institution and from industry-specific networks.
One aspect of the programme is the development of a Walcot Foundation Alumni Network. We’re proud of what so many of our student grantees have achieved and we know that many wish to support others going through the process.
