Walcot Foundation are pleased to have partnered with Impact on Urban Health, London South Teaching Hub and Oval learning Cluster to support delivery of the Healthy Schools Fund to 35 Lambeth primary and secondary schools in the 2022-2023 academic year. The programme is funded by Impact on Urban Health (part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation), a charitable foundation that seeks to address health inequality in urban areas.
The Healthy Schools Fund is a £2 million fund that aims to address negative impacts of Covid-19 on the health and wellbeing of primary and secondary school age children in Lambeth and Southwark. By providing this funding, Impact on Urban Health hope to learn more about local schools’ priorities and the challenges they face when supporting students’ health.
Schools have spent their grants on a range of activity that contribute to Impact on Urban Health’s priority areas, including projects to promote strong, positive children’s mental health, supporting access to a nutritious diet and tackling harmful exposure to air pollution. The schools chosen to receive the fund were selected using a data-led approach, identifying those likely to have a student population who have been disproportionately impacted by Covid-19 and the related restrictions.
