The aim of the Walcot Apprenticeship Scheme is to completely turn around the lives of 10 young Lambeth people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) and who are at risk of social exclusion.
The focus will be on fully supporting them into work and training so that they can become highly skilled, employable and financially independent.
Each apprenticeship runs for three years and combines employment and training alongside an ongoing personal development programme.
Every apprentice is fully supported to ensure that they are able to face each new challenge and be equipped to deal with the transition into training and employment.
We are committed to finding suitable training and employment with the right employer that is also committed to making a difference to the lives of those that may not have had the best start. Whilst on the programme, the apprentice’s salary will be paid and also any additional expenses the employer incurs, such as equipment, mentoring, training and other reasonable overheads. Childcare costs may also be met.
Supporting young people and employers every step of the way is key to this programmes’ success.
We have now selected a pool of Walcot Apprentices. We shall be reporting on hoe the programme develops later.
