Interested in employing a Walcot Apprentice?

Are you a private, voluntary or public sector enterprise interested in hiring an apprentice to help grow your business?

The Foundation is running a programme to support 10 apprenticeships. We provide the funding over a three year period to cover all the apprentice’s salary and other expenses incurred by the employer.

Finding the right employers
We are looking for businesses who would be interested in taking on an apprentice, in the following sectors:

  • skilled labour: carpentry, plumbing, electrics

  • tourism and hospitality

  • animal care

  • hair and beauty

  • childcare; social care; counselling

  • gardening/horticulture

  • IT and network support

This is list not exhaustive - we are open to other proposals. You must be committed to providing on-the-job training and mentoring to the selected candidate over a three year period.

What we offer the employer
The Foundation provides funding to support both NVQ Level 3 qualifications and salary as well as coaching and mentoring costs to the employer over a 3 year period per apprenticeship.

A Walcot Apprentice Support Manager supports the 10 apprenticeships, working closely with both the apprentices and their employers to support them in all aspects.

Both apprentices and their employers will also have access to further support from a dedicated Advice Worker based at Centre 70 advice centre based in West Norwood.  Centre 70 will be able to advise on benefits issues, contracts/other legal issues and any other matters that arise.

Reece Heaven was the first Walcot Apprentice. He has been employed by Vauxhall City Farm on a three year programme and alongside his work,
is studying for NVQs in animal husbandry.

Walcot Apprenticeships

"I wanted to be a Vet. Here I get to work with animals. I'm doing my Level 2 in Animal Care and want to go on to Level 3. I work 5 days a week and my wages help out at home and give me freedom to do things I like. Getting the apprenticeship at Vauxhall City Farm and becoming the first Walcot Apprentice was like the best Christmas present I ever go"
